Here are some answers to your frequently asked questions!
How does private tuition work?
After an initial chat to discuss your requirements, either in person, on the phone or via email, I will come to your home or office. The beauty of private tuition is that you can decide how often you would like lessons, how long each lesson will last and what you would like to focus on (conversation, grammar, exam preparation, etc) as all lessons get personalised to your needs.
How does online tuition work?
It is exactly the same as private tuition in your home or office, except that we will be speaking to each other via Skype or Zoom. It may seem a little strange at first but it very quickly becomes more natural. Many young learners have reported that they find it just as easy to concentrate online. It is a great way of improving your language skills, especially speaking, and we can also share anything that is on our screens to each other, be it worksheets, pictures or video extracts.
How much does it cost?
Typical fees are £30 an hour and £35 for advanced level. Discounts are available for conversation only, morning lessons and group lessons. Contact me now for a quote!
Do all lessons have to be an hour long?
No, the length of the lessons is entirely up to you! I tend to find that children prefer shorter lessons of around 45 minutes, but some adults and business classes work better as 90 minute or two hour sessions.
Do I have to have one lesson per week?
As with lesson length, the frequency of lessons is also up to you! If you can only squeeze in one lesson per fortnight, that’s absolutely fine. Equally, if you are trying to cram in some last minute revision for an exam and need a session every day, we can arrange that, too.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel a lesson and give me 48 hours notice, you will not be charged for the lesson. If you cancel the previous day, you will be charged 50% and if you cancel on the same day you will be charged the full cost of the lesson. If sufficient notice is given, I will always try to reschedule a lesson at no extra charge.
Do I need to buy a textbook?
During the first lesson, we will discuss whether or not you want to use a textbook. If we decide to use one, you will need to purchase a copy for yourself. I will also buy a copy of the book, for which you won’t be charged. Should you decide not to use a textbook, I will provide you with worksheets and other materials as the course goes along, free of charge.
